The beginning of Acme Markets could date back to 1891, when two friends, Samuel Robinson and Robert Crawford started their small business by opening a neighborhood grocery store st Second and Fernon Streets in South Philadelphia. The philosophy to run the Acme Markets stores is to sell customers what they want to buy at a fair price, with lots of tender, loving care, which has been held as the store operation principle from the very beginning when Acme was just a small grocery store operated only in South Philadelphia. In 2013, the current parent company, AB Acquisition LLC acquired Acme Markets from SuperValu, which merged Acme in 2006. Presently, this supermarket chain has its headquarter located in East Whiteland Township, Pennsylvania, and is operated under Albertsons.
