On April 28, 1953, a committee including Benjamin Charters, Walter Boris, Earl Devine, Henry Abrahamse, F.C. Voss, C.E. Hayes and William Audus came together to form a financial cooperative better known as Jackson Consumer's Power Employees Federal Credit Union. Their vision was to provide members with a safe, convenient place to save and a source of credit, when needed, at/or better than competitor's rates. Over the past 56 years, their goals have undoubtedly been achieved and our history continues to grow. Like our founders, we continue to believe in the credit union philosophy of People Helping People and that credit unions are organizations of people, not money. Building off of the foundation our founders created for us, our mission remains to be the primary choice for our members' financial needs. In 1991, we underwent a name change to CP Federal Credit Union to better serve our community partners which include over 300 businesses and organizations throughout Jackson and Ingham Counties. Currently, we serve over 42,000 members throughout Mid-Michigan and have become the largest locally owned credit union with an asset size of over 300 million.
