Empowering students to succeed in reading and in life by harnessing the power of community volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring. Reading Partners is a national education nonprofit that works with elementary schools to support students who are reading six months to two and a half years below grade-level. We recruit and train community volunteers to work one-on-one with students by following a structured, research-based curriculum. GOING TO SCALE In the 2014-15 school year, we served 8,900 students across the country with more than 12,000 weekly volunteers. NATIONAL SERVICE Reading Partners is a proud partner with the Corporation for National and Community Service. Our Reading Centers are powered by dedicated AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers. This school year we will work with more than 120 National Community Service AmeriCorps and AmeriCrops VISTA volunteers. RECORD OF SUCCESS Reading Partners is focused on data and results. We are dedicated to ensuring that every investment made in the success of our students leads to a measurable increase in reading skills. During the 2014-15 school year: • On average, students tripled their rate of learning reading skills. • 9 out of 10 emerging readers mastered key foundational literacy skills. • 94% of principals noted school-wide progress in reading.
