Wind Turbine Technician

Aerotek is seeking a Wind Turbine Technician in Fowler, IN. This position is a contract opportunity through the end of the year.

Job Summary:

This technician is intended to perform purely as an assistant to experienced technicians. This position, under specific direction from the site supervisor, cleans and maintains turbines and towers and assists experienced technicians with semi-annual maintenance. The job duties will require the technician to climb 300+ feet, often working in confined spaces.

This role will consist of spending 100% of the time in the field, with the exception of safety and scheduled training exercises.

**Candidates will NOT work in either high winds or any type of inclement weather.**

Job Duties:

-Work safely under all circumstances and seek guidance for any work for which they are unfamiliar or do not feel competent to perform safely.
- Operate and care for company property and equipment in an efficient and safe manner.
- Will start primarily with cleaning and "tidying up," such as cleaning debris (leaves, water, grease) from the base and interior of the tower.
- As candidate shadows and gains understanding of the equipment, may assist with changing gearbox oil and replacement of mechanical components
- Complete on a daily basis; work orders, time cards and any other required paperwork for the specific project/assignment.

Qualifications:

-High school diploma or equivalent education
-Able to follow both verbal and written instructions.
-Good verbal and written communication skills.
-Mechanical aptitude
-Must be very attentive to safety and detail
-Must have steel toe boots and be able to climb multiple sets up of ladders in a day (up to 350 feet)
-Candidates must be okay with working at heights above 350 feet in confined spaces

Physical Requirements:

-While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:

Stand, climb, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

-The employee is frequently required to talk or hear.
-The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
-Able to work at heights, including climbing up and descending towers, entering nacelles and hubs at extreme heights.
·-Able to work in a mechanical environment. This may have been achieved through formal training, previous work experience as an auto mechanic or the ability to demonstrate that an individual is mechanically inclined.
·-Demonstrate good work habits, including but not limited to attendance, and maintaining a neat and orderly work environment.

Shift:

Monday-Friday, and occasionally on Saturday

7:00 AM - 3:30 AM (30 minute lunch break)

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $18.00 to $20.00 /hour
