Technical Writer

Astor & Sanders Corporation (Astor), an award winning IT solutions provider located in Rockville, MD is seeking a Technical Writer. This is a full-time position located in New Carrollton, MD.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Interview project stakeholders and team-members to understand current processes and create new or update existing associated documentation.
• Create tutorials and "cheat sheets" to help end-users use a variety of applications.
• Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the systems, roles and workflows.
• Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
• Write easy-to-understand user guides.
• Document various processes and standards including workflows.
• Create and maintain library of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience:

• 3+ years’ proven working experience in documenting, editing and authoring of technical subject matter. This includes but is not limited to configuration management plans, architectural documents, user guides, SOPs.
• Experience managing documentation within a SharePoint repository and maintaining strict version control protocols.
• Strong MS Visio skills
• Strong understanding of network and/or security operations environments
• Experience writing and editing Information Technology documents (e.g., configuration management, architectural documents, and user guides)
• Familiarity with ITIL best practices

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
