Advise Global Markets (GM) line of business as well as other related businesses within the firm on US information reporting and withholding, including FATCA (Chapter 4), NRA (Chapter 3), Chapter 61 and Backup Withholding. Provide tax advice and manage information and withholding tax risk associated with all GM business units including but not limited to, Investment Banking, Equity and Debt Sales and Trading, Public Finance and Commodities. Support GM Operations with respect to information reporting and withholding obligations. Provide tax advisory support to Qualified Intermediaries including Qualified Derivatives Dealers. Assist in tax review of transactions entered into by Bank of America with Counterparties, as well as, review transactions marketed to customers to provide guidance on information reporting and withholding impacts.
Responsible for information reporting and withholding tax analysis of complex products and transactions, including providing advice on new or existing products or services and managing tax risk. Assist in analysis of new laws and regulations as they apply to the firm’s businesses, including participating in industry working groups. Advise and support operations teams in the development and implementation of new withholding and information reporting systems.
Must be able to manage several projects at one time, and to engage with outside counsel and accounting firms as necessary. Excellent research and legal writing skills are required. Familiarity with Section 871(m), Section 305(c) and FATCA is required.
This position is posted as a Tax Advisor but is flexible to be filled as a Sr Tax Professional II if the posted qualifications are met by a strong Sr Tax Professional II level applicant.
