Product Manager Data Platforms

This specific Product Manager role will be primarily focused on the University’s data platforms and ETL processes, including API management and maintenance. Platforms currently include Oracle, SQL Server, Hadoop and Cassandra.

The Product Manager is a unique role that bridges 1) the understanding of what software products can do and how they are used to facilitate University processes, 2) knowledge of how the product is designed and recommended to be used, and 3) how to interface and extract data from the system using either native tools, interfaces provided by the vendor or built manually using APIs and/or database queries.

With general guidance & direction, the Product Manager will be responsible for managing the full product life cycle of a product by combining feedback from students, faculty, staff, alumni and other constituents to transform the digital experience of Creighton University. This position will serve as the expert and spokesperson, providing product leadership, technical direction, and assistance in driving overall product growth and transformation. The position will create a product vision, roadmap, tactical action plan and ensure product initiatives align with University strategic objectives.

This position will also work with the software engineering teams to build what matters most to our constituents, and provide data extracts, API definitions, and data mapping as needed. Additionally, this position will work with the Operations team for maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting of the system and develop a knowledge management repository to ensure the effective usage of the product.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management, Communication, Marketing, Statistics or similar field and/or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 3 years combined experience in one or more of the following:
Experience providing technical design, and development
Experience supporting an enterprise or a cloud application
Experience with a large user-facing system
Strong understanding of SQL languages (PL SQL, T-SQL, etc…)
Experience working in at least one object-oriented programming language and at least one scripting language.
Understanding of client/server architecture.
Experience developing enterprise wide solutions and micro services.
Experience working with at least one enterprise database platform (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Hadoop, Cassandra, etc…)
Experience developing and managing a new or existing product from inception to launch and into production support.
Experience actively collaborating with internal technical resources, external vendors and/or offshore teams.
Experience conducting regular analyses of user adoption rates, feature success metrics and ways to maximize value to end-users.
Experience reviewing industry trends and provide actionable insight to stakeholders.
Mentoring of individuals from underrepresented backgrounds
Mentoring and fostering a positive environment ripe for diversity and inclusion

Higher Education experience preferred

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Must currently hold or pass the ITIL V.3 Foundation Certification Exam within 6 months of employment.
