The P&GA Employee Communications Advisor will participate in a range of activities to support ExxonMobil operations and manage its reputation. The successful candidate will assist in the development of business strategy materials (e g., messaging, talking points, briefing documents, etc.) and high-visibility communications materials, including social and digital content, publications, speeches, presentations, etc. The position plays a key role on an innovative, multi-disciplinary team, operating in a fast-moving environment. The position is based in Houston.

Primary Job Functions
  • Develop and implement proactive communications strategies and plans to better inform and educate the public on issues of importance to the company and the industry
  • Develop and implement proactive internal communications strategies and plans to better inform and educate employees on issues of importance to the company and the industry
  • Work regularly with internal clients to determine their communications expectations and needs
  • Create content for and help maintain the company's various communication channels, including robust social media and video
  • Create content for and help maintain the company's various internal communication channels, including Intranet sites, mobile apps, digital signs, podcasts, employee forums, etc.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree (in communications, public relations, journalism, economics, English, political science or international relations preferred); advanced degree in a communications or policy-related discipline also advantageous
  • Prior relevant experience in areas such as communications, marketing, public policy issues management, political campaigns, journalism, writing or other related areas
  • A demonstrated track record of achievement in internal/external communications
  • Experience developing news media strategies and media response statements, including on-camera interviews
  • Ability to convey complex, legal or scientific positions to a variety of external stakeholders with diverse and potential competing interests
  • Expert use of social media and community ambassadors to increase reach and relevance of local communications
  • Strong writing/editing skills and experience developing speeches, executive letters, publications, blog posts and other similar materials Ability to understand and articulate economics and the operations of global markets
  • Ability to write quickly and under pressure experience handling communications during a crisis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a global, virtual team

  • Ability to understand, assimilate and communicate complex issues quickly
  • Familiarity and interest in issues related to energy, economics, the environment, corporate citizenship and government relations
  • Strong project-management skills, with an ability to multi-task and remain flexible when priorities change
  • A positive, proactive team-oriented attitude, culturally sensitive and ideally familiar with the working environment of a large, international organization
  • Understanding and respect for international protocols and cultural differences
  • Enthusiasm for public affairs challenges involved in working for one of the world's largest, most successful companies
