Corporate Electrical Engineer
Position Summary: Provide electrical and controls engineering support to all FXI locations to maintain and improve existing equipment. Responsible for the electrical and controls side of new equipment installations working as part of the overall project team. Position will be preferably based at a major FXI plant location but working remotely from a home office will be considered.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide electrical troubleshooting expertise to plant engineering and maintenance personnel to keep equipment operating efficiently.Be able to access specific equipment remotely to diagnose problems with PLC’s and drives.
Provide electrical and controls engineering expertise to FXI plants and other corporate engineering team members in the design, cost estimation, and installation of a wide variety of both existing equipment upgrades and new projects that are intended to improve manufacturing operations, quality, safety, and reduce costs of production.
Work closely with vendors in identifying appropriate equipment necessary for each project and determining best cost options.
Assist in the creation of needed documentation for initial presentations to executive management and preparation of CER’s to obtain funding for projects. Track spending against approved project budgets to make sure that costs are controlled and monitored.
Manage the modification and upgrade of existing plant electrical equipment. Work closely with plant electrical and mechanical people and develop strong professional relationships with them.
Play a key role in the evolution of computer and PLC control of processes in the foam making and fabricating operations. Ensure that FXI remains current with developing technology in the field so that maximum advantage can be taken of new innovations in process control.
Be able to supervise both in-house and contractor resources effectively to complete projects on time and on budget.
Responsible for ensuring that all electrical projects under your control are in compliance with the FXI Corporate Electrical standards and all recognized electrical codes such as OSHA, ANSI, NEC, IEEE, and local electrical codes.
Required Education and Experience:
BS Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering
3-5 years experience in an industrial environment with project design and installation responsibilities
Computer literacy with standard MS Office software including MS Project
Proven ability to design with AutoCAD
Experience with the following equipment and software:
Programmable logic controllers (PLC)
Variable frequency drives (VFD),
Networking and HMI systems on continuous production lines,
Allen Bradley PLCs: Control Logix 5000, SLC-500 and PLC-5
Factory Talk SE, Wonderware HMIs, Ethernet and ControlNet networks.
Ability to apply analytical skills in process troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Experience with chemical handling systems and/or power transmission equipment is a plus.
Formal project management training is not required but would be considered a plus.
Ability to travel to plant locations other than where you are based at least 60% of the time.Must have a valid passport and be able to travel in Mexico as needed to support FXI plant sites.Must be able to obtain Mexican work permit documents.
Familiarity with SAP as it relates to project management documentation and tracking is a definite plus.
Bilingual Spanish / English proficiency is not required but is a definite plus.
