Your day to day

Job Summary – (Role Summary) Lead and coordinate the development and execution of revenue-generating global sales programs and technology platforms for the Groups & Meetings segment. Ensure that all sales programs and platforms support the overall vision, objectives and goals of the end-to-end Global Sales Strategy & Vision, IHG enterprise strategy, and the needs of our sellers and customer for the Groups & Meetings segment. Monitor the cost-effectiveness and implementation of programs, and recommend measures for continuous improvement. This role will be expected to be the subject matter expert on the latest technology and platforms relevant to the groups and meeting segment, and will be knowledgeable as to how innovation in this area will enhance segment delivery and performance. May lead the work of less experienced staff by providing mentoring, technical guidance and/or training in daily activities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, communicate and implement a multi-year roadmap for the Groups & Meetings business segment/program. Ensure that each plan effectively lays the foundation of the positioning for each market/program, and builds into the overall Sales strategy near and long-term. Manage the overall implementation of the program’s plan via comprehensive sales programs, stakeholder alignment, change management, communications and measurement, both internally and externally. Monitor each program’s progress against agreed objectives, including financial return and production analysis, and formally report progress to manager/sales leader at defined intervals. Monitor and control budgeted expenditures to constantly achieve enhanced cost effectiveness and value; and control and approve the work of assigned promotional vendors as needed. Serve as a key link between the Global Sales, Regional Sales and hotel sales within related Sales/Market segments to enhance communications and consistency and ensure objectives/needs are met. Monitor and measure relevant competitive market activity relating to Sales Program activities and programs within the industry, and make appropriate recommendations to ensure the Company’s sales programs maintain a creative and competitive edge. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships across all global and regional functions and departments at all levels to ensure maximum benefit from cross-functional synergies. Support ad hoc segment projects as needed, with the potential to lead the work of less experienced staff by providing mentoring, technical guidance and/or training in daily activities.

What we need from you

Education Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business or a relevant field or work, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.Experience 8+ years progressive work-related experience in Sales and Marketing, with demonstrated mastery of technical and business knowledge and understanding of multiple disciplines/processes related to the position. Typically leads/mentors less experienced staff or complex projects in area of expertise.Technical skills and Knowledge Demonstrated project management experience in organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff. Demonstrated ability to communicate supportive program details (presentation, analysis) to present a persuasive argument or to effectively negotiate a position Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions concerning sales plans and their effectiveness Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently Demonstrated knowledge of hotel operations and sales processes, with demonstrated knowledge of the groups & meetings segment including customer lifecycle, hotel operations and sales processes Experience with the following systems should include: Sales & Catering, Reservations, Property Management Systems, etc. Demonstrated knowledge of the Company’s infrastructure and systems preferred, in order to effectively develop plans which are in keeping with the overall business strategy Demonstrated strategic planning, marketing, and program development skills required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Powerpoint) or similar software for the purpose of gathering, analyzing and reporting sales programs information MBA preferredDecision making responsibilities Significant impact on the implementation of sales plans/programs and the communication of objectives to hotels, corporate offices, and management in a timely and effective manner Makes decisions concerning changes to sales plans, based on current competitive data and knowledge of the hotel industry Business owner for strategic decisions and business requirements, to be communicated and delivered to integral project partners and responsible for providing recommendations to key stakeholders and manager on critical milestone decisions as needed Key Relationships All Global Sales segment leaders – communicate sales program data and monitor objectives against performance Brand Marketing – assist with technology considerations (e.g. promotions, featured content, etc.) to ensure objectives are being met Distribution & Relationship Marketing – act as liaison to coordinate and influence communication strategies for channels and maintain alignment with roadmap initiatives Operations – communicate regarding sales roadmap, program data and performance Global Technology – serve as first line business owner of relevant program for information Procurement – communicate vendor needs and objectives to ensure vendor RFI/RFP conducted to meet business objectives and needs Corporate Legal, Human Resources – as needed to provide information or request assistance Franchisees, general managers, director of sales – to communicate program information, answer questions, and monitor sales plan performance in franchised hotels Third party vendors – to support systems, platforms and tools to support strategic roadmap and critical initiatives
