Position description
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) assists nursing staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which support and complement nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. At a minimum, the PCA carries out designated skills that are within those functions of a certified nursing assistant, as defined by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs. The PCA communicates data reflective of the patient's status and delegated tasks and/or functions. The incumbent works flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Additional qualifications
Graduation from a vocational program for nursing assistants preferred.
Availability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
Relevant experience preferred.
Strong computer skills preferred.
Internal applicants are required to attach their three most recent performance appraisals.
License or certification
Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency.
Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) credential is required. LNA must be issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
(Employees with a start date prior to December 31, 2018, LNA is required at time of first renewal. CNA/LNA must be issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing.)

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $16.17 per hour.

This position is 4 (10) hour shifts, 0845-1915, days to be determined.
Weekend schedule
Call coverage per department needs. Call requirement is a 30 minute response time or must be willing to book a call room when on call at the hospital.
