Collections Specialist

Summary:

The Collections Specialist will report to the Director of Accounting with the primary responsibility of performing all clerical tasks associated with the collection of payments on aging customer/client accounts within the Accounts Receivable Department.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collect customer/client payments in accordance with payment due dates.
  • Reviews open accounts to identify aging/delinquent accounts.
  • Making outbound collection communications via phone, email, or mail to collect on past-due open invoices
  • Identify and resolve errors in customer/client accounts to provide accurate outstanding amounts for reporting.
  • Review and release medical records as necessary and accurately log all actions within the MediCopy CarePortal.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and strategize solutions for reducing the total past-due amount for the organization.
  • Maintains a positive/professional relationship between MediCopy and its customers/clients.
  • Provides backup support to other groups in the accounting department, create periodic reports and perform other general administrative duties.
  • Supporting the collection efforts/calls for the Accounting portfolio
  • Directly reports to the Director of Accounting.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Accounting/Collections related field.
  • Knowledge in HIPAA and other regulatory requirements regarding ROI
  • Knowledge in GAAP
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, and be able to interact well with employees.
  • Confidentiality and discretion is required.
  • Sound understanding of computer systems, networks and phone systems.
  • Ability to work effectively, individually and/or part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the Director of Accounting.
  • Ability to perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with day to day activities.
  • The flexibility to adapt to frequent changes in the industry and organization.

This position will have an hourly rate based on experience and education. Ranges from $17.00 up to $20.00
