Performs a variety of financial studies to analyze and report interrelationships of financial information. Determines validity of data and provides supporting explanations of conclusions reached. Use data to project future short- and long-term scenarios and anticipated results. May support financial analysis/reporting and the integrity of financial data by developing the financial systems infrastructure, establishing controlled financial transaction processing through administrative systems, or providing technical support in the production of reports/analyses.
Complete analysis and reporting for various Group Benefit products.
Analyze and explain actual vs. projection variances by product.
Perform GAAP and STAT line by line financial statement changes.
Complete GAAP to STAT UW differences.
Correspond with auditors on questions that arise.
Prepare journal entries by product.
Communicate Group Benefit product level earnings to manager.
Complete GAAP & STAT balance sheet certifications.
Perform line by line financial statement trend analysis.
Partner with various units across the enterprise to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
Complete government reporting and analysis.
Complete Ad Hoc projects.
Document existing processes and procedures for various Group products.
Review QFS Rollforward
Prepare STAT Bridge file for manager review.
System skills required – Proficient in HFM, SmartView Retrieve, ESSBASE, Microsoft Excel
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 5 years of financial experience in a public or private company environment; insurance industry experience preferred.
Completion of or progress towards CPA or MBA preferred.
Experience working with GAAP and STAT reporting.
Self-starter who can independently produce quality results.
Working knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, and practice.
