One of the fastest moving dimensions in technology today is the transformation around devices and cloud. The Global Commercial Partner team is a team within DPE working with Microsoft’s largest and most important consumer partners to adopt our platform technologies (e.g. Windows, Windows Phone, Windows Azure, SQL Server etc.). We are looking for a Business Evangelist that is well versed in both the business and technical aspects of the consumer market to help drive this adoption. The Business Evangelist’s primary focus is winning partner platform adoption of Microsoft technologies. The Business Evangelist will accomplish this through identifying, building and maintaining senior level relationships (business and technical) with a partner’s key decision makers. The Business Evangelist will own and drive account planning and strategy, be the primary point of contact into Microsoft for the partner and be an excellent account leader, all the while providing business and technical leadership to deliver partner applications on our platforms.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will understand the partner’s business priorities and map them to the benefits of the Microsoft platform - such as Windows (including HTML5, CSS & JavaScript), Windows Phone, Windows Azure, and Microsoft server technologies. You will be responsible for evangelizing to partners the “joint win(s)” identified and ultimately securing the partner’s commitment to deliver apps on our platforms. You’ll be accountable for aligning resources across DPE and the product groups to reflect the priorities, expectations and operational plans of both Microsoft and the partner organization. Being a great leader and collaborator is critical to this role’s success. The results of your efforts should be shipping products which excite consumers, exploit and differentiate the Microsoft platform, nurture educated developers and grow Microsoft’s presence in the consumer space. In order to meet these objectives, you will need to: Develop a comprehensive account strategy and plan that will confirm joint success for both partner and Microsoft. Have a strong understanding of the partner’s key priorities and where does Microsoft play (or not) today. Have a 360 degree view of what Microsoft is doing, or attempting to do, with the partner. Establish trusted advisor status with CXO level partner executives across multiple functions. (Engineering, Sales, Marketing & Operations) Build structured agreements (e.g. business terms) that drive mutual benefits to both Microsoft and partner Gain commitment from partners to develop against milestones and deliver differentiating experiences to consumers. Expand the Microsoft footprint within our partners’ portfolios through new solutions. Build and maintain trusted partner relationships with very high levels of satisfaction. Establish strong relationships with technical evangelism and product groups to facilitate high impact interactions.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Essential Experience: The person selected for this position must have a comprehensive understanding of the Microsoft platform (Windows Client, Windows Phone, Windows Azure, etc.) and/or an equivalent competitive stack. Business Development Experience: at least 3 years of experience structuring business deals that drive mutual benefits between companies. Account Management Experience: at least 3 years of experience managing large, complex accounts. This would include building account plans, driving a v-team and delivering great results Experience/familiarity in architecture and development lifecycle of software applications for the consumer segment desired. Industry/Segment Experience: at least 3 years of experience in the consumer software industry required. Experience with social media, consumer blogs, important consumer technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) is desirable. Technical /Functional Skills: An understanding of Microsoft technologies is mandatory. A specific understating in Windows Client and Windows Phone is desired. An overall passion for the technology environment and for the business value it drives is essential. Personal Attributes: highly motivated with a mature and positive attitude and a passion for working with partners on driving platform adoption of Microsoft technologies. Strong organization and prioritization skills are essential, with the capacity for driving quality (rather than quantity) of activities with the partner. An overall passion for technology and for the business value it drives is essential. Strong communications and cross group collaboration skills essential. Qualifications: Degree qualified (bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent discipline required. Graduate degree in engineering or Business preferred). Language Skills: Fluency in English.
