Position: LAUNDRY ATTENDANT

Reports to: Executive Housekeeper / General Manager

SUMMARY:

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for processing of soiled linen on a daily basis. Responsible for maintaining the laundry in a clean and orderly state.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide the highest quality of service to the guest at all times.
  • Received soiled linens by bag, cart or chute from the floors. Sort articles by kind, color, and degree of soil. Inspect all laundry and linens and record all damaged or stained items.
  • Know how to operate the washers and dryers.
  • Load linen in washers and dryers.
  • Pre-spot stained linen and terry before re-washing.
  • Maintain productivity standards.
  • Remove linen immediately from dryers to prevent wrinkles.
  • Fold linen according to proper standards. Sheets should be folded double lengthwise, king sheets into squares, and terry as requested.
  • Adhere to no iron laundry procedures.
  • Place folded linen on marked shelves and transport to floor linen rooms in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a well-organized, neat laundry room.
  • Check washing machine drains to prevent clogging. Inform engineering if maintenance is needed.
  • Damp mop laundry floor on a daily basis.
  • Clean lint traps three times each day.
  • Wipe down all machines daily and maintain all equipment per manufacturer’s specified procedures, e.g. remove lint from dryers as needed.
  • Empty all machines and dryers and turn all machines off at completion of shift.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Practice safety standards at all times and be alert to hazardous conditions. Report or correct any hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Must be thoroughly familiar with Employee Handbook and all policies and rules it contains.
  • Must adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the company, including, but not limited to, those contained in the Employee Handbook, Safety Manual, and operating guides.
  • Wear proper attire at all times in accordance with the Company Dress Code.
  • Other duties as assigned, of which the employee is capable of performing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer Knowledge/Skills: MS Windows, basic.
  • Understanding of safely using laundry machines and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to follow instructions, detail-oriented, service mined, and ability to work independently.
  • Repeated bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to 30 lbs.
