Development Officer
Mount Sinai Health System seeks an exceptional development support professional to assist with its major gifts program to raise funds for the Health System. The Development Officer will report to Deputy Chief Development Officer (DCDO) in the Office of Development.

This full-time position requires strength in organization, detail management, database knowledge, and strong communications skills; experience with Raisers Edge database is strongly preferred. Position requires a proactive approach and the ability to anticipate the needs of colleagues, institutional leaders, and donor constituents.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Deputy Chief Development Officer’s primary point of contact for inquiries and requests from both external and internal constituents. Field and respond to donor, physician, administrators’ phone and email inquiries relating to donation and fund related issues.
  • Provide administrative support (e.g. scheduling physician meetings, donor meetings, maintain calendar, prepare and coordinate materials, agendas for meetings, etc.) to the DCDO and two Development Staff.
  • Compose memos, letters, talking points, proposals, gift agreements, meeting and event briefings, and solicitation and personalized acknowledgment letters. Proofread written materials.
  • While assisting the DCDO, manage a small portfolio of grateful patient prospects for the system hospitals and the Department of Orthopedics and develop a strategy for cultivation and solicitation.
  • Update and maintain all moves management information related to the DCDO and your own portfolios including entering contact reports, adding and updating proposals, entering future/anticipated actions, maintaining all data/coding related to the several reports most frequently used in tracking and measuring donor moves management.
  • Manage Board Meetings and materials for Mount Sinai Downtown and the Department of Orthopedics. Prepare and coordinate materials for meetings, including meeting notices, agendas, handouts, copying, and distributing follow-up materials. Schedule meetings and reserve conference rooms.
  • Compile and extract information from Raiser’s Edge to provide financial reports and projections as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships and building trust with physicians and staff by being proactive, responsive and attentive to prospect management.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned
  • Performs other related duties
  • Bachelors’ Degree
  • 3 years’ experience working in an office setting, preferably in development, special events, public relations or marketing
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office environment
  • Experience using Raiser’s Edge preferred
