What is an Athlete* Coach?

An Athlete* Coach is a mentor, counselor, and supporter of anything and everything the athlete* wants. It is your job to be the “one stop shop” for directing, leading, and motivating the athlete* in the direction towards their goals. Through empathetic listening and sympathetic feedback, you will set up a Game Plan that will lead the athlete* towards success. While you do not have to be an expert in all things fitness and sport, you must possess a great deal of knowledge of the Nike Sport Centers, the facets, and our partners. By building an unbreakable relationship, you will find out what motivates the athlete* in order to give them what they want, and not necessarily what they need.

Activities of an Athlete* Coach

  • Meet with athletes* one-on-one to create their Game Plan which may include facilitating referrals to other Nike experts in the facets of health
  • Track current athletes* with no assigned Athlete* Coach
  • Support the front desk by helping perform Club Runs
  • Answer any questions athletes* have around the Nike Sport Centers
  • Regularly check in with athletes* and modifies the Game Plan as needed
  • Store information in a tracking log and communicate with the athlete* via email to best meet their needs

Key Job Competencies

  • Customer Service: Serve the athlete* by helping them find what they want. You are their source of information and direction to their sport and fitness interests and goals
  • Communication: Speak with empathy, sympathy, and compassion to all athletes* to find out what they truly want out of their NSC experience
  • Data Tracking: Collect, organize, and keep data on all athletes* to help facilitate direction and guidance towards their interests and goals
  • Scheduling: Regularly check in with athletes* to make sure they are making sport a daily habit.
  • Initiative: Ability to direct athletes* to the correct resource, class, or strategic partner to best serve the athlete*

Specific Work Experience

  • 2+ years of fitness, coaching, sport, or health engagement experience preferred
  • 2+ years customer service experience preferred
  • 2+ years in marketing/sales preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Walking, climbing stairs, functional movement

Education/Certifications/Other Requirements

  • Health Coach certification preferred
  • Group Fitness or Personal Training certification preferred
  • CPR and First Aid preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 /hour
