Platte Valley Bank has a part-time opening at the North Oak location. This position will work 25-29 hours a week including, rotating opening/closing shifts and rotating Saturday's.
Summary:
The primary function of the teller is to assist the customer with any banking transactions, questions, or concerns in a friendly and professional manner, while following banking policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
Sales – 85%
- Accept deposits, cash checks*
- Have a basic knowledge of all bank deposit products and services**
- Provide prompt, friendly and professional service at all times*
- Know bank deposit products and be able to cross sell to customers as needed
- Refer customers to other products, such as; loans, mortgages, and investment services
- Meet monthly product referral goals: full time -15 referrals, 2 closed, part time 10 referrals and 1 closed
- Attends sales training as required
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
Operations/Compliance and Security – 15%
Operations/Compliance
- Balance cash drawer, atm
- Completes necessary forms to ensure accurate customer transactions
- Complies with all teller policies and procedures
- Responds to all customers inquires and forwards any appropriate requests to other departments
- Performs safe deposit functions according to policy and procedures when necessary
- Attends all required operational and compliance training
- Other duties as assigned
Security
- Follow security procedures when opening/closing branch
- Knows and follow dual control procedures when necessary
- Knows robbery procedures
- Protects the confidentiality of the customers’ business at all times
- Remains alert to possible check cashing scams, money laundering, and forgery/fraud situations
Expectations:
The Teller is to follow all 5 stages of the sales program:
- Plan Stage – have a neat workstation and all necessary materials available
- Relax Stage – Greet customer, make eye contact, stand up, lean forward, use customers name, initiate non-business conversation, give full attention
- Evaluate Stage – Determine reason for visit, obtain information and verify service need, ask product needs
- Present Stage – satisfy service information needs, uses sales referral impact question, present product benefit statement
- Close Stage – Explain purpose of referral, Handle referral objection, name person to see, give brochure, smile, use customers name in closing, make closing remark

- Must have comfort level in handling, counting, etc. large sums of money

- Helping customers achieve their goals in a friendly and professional manner

- Ensure that customers are getting exactly what they want while adhering to banking policies and procedures
Multi-tasking
- Teller window gets busy, more than one thing happening at a time. Must be able to switch functions at any time.
Physical Demands:
A Teller will stand for long periods of time. There can be prolonged computer usage as tellers assist customers. Coin may have to be lifted 2-3 times per week and bags may be as heavy as 50 pounds. Repetitive motion with counting money.
Qualifications:
Previous cash handling experience preferred. Teller must understand basic computer operations and have basic clerical skills. Must have good communication skills.
