Summary

We are looking for a Scientist/Associate Scientist to join our Protein Sciences group to help drive our protein/cellular chemical conjugation platform. The candidate must be independent, goal oriented, technically competent and able to efficiently work across multiple projects. We are searching for enthusiastic, innovative, and highly motivated individuals, with deep scientific background in protein/cellular/nanoparticle conjugation using click chemistry or/and unnatural amino acids, preferably developing novel strategies, who are comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a team of scientists in Protein Sciences and Discovery to help optimize and develop novel conjugation strategies to drive biology projects.
  • Design and develop click chemistry reactions and/or incorporation of non-canonical amino acids through DOE optimization on proteins and/or cells.
  • Assessment of emerging conjugation/chemical technologies with an emphasis towards the implementation of new experimental techniques enabling drug discovery.
  • Independently design and execute various assays/experiments
  • Contribute to group organization, productivity, and expertise through collaboration and idea exchange.
  • Independent data analysis, proper electronic notebook record keeping, and generation of standardized reports.
  • Communicate experimental plans and data to multiple cross-functional scientific teams.
  • Support the continued protection, creation, and expansion of company’s intellectual property.
  • Will be part of cross-functional teams including biologists, immunologists, and pharmacologists to contribute to the strategic direction of research programs across multiple therapeutic modalities.

Experience & Qualifications

  • The candidate should have a PhD degree with 0-2 years of experience or BS/MS degree with 5-15 years of experience in biology, biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry or a related field with relevant laboratory experience, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry preferred.
  • Experience with chemical conjugation techniques at various scales.
  • Extensive knowledge of click chemistry for protein or cellular conjugation.
  • Comfortable with DoE for development of protein or cellular conjugates.
  • Familiar with advanced analytical methods for measuring protein conjugation.
  • Knowledge of synthetic biology or chemical biology for modification of recombinant proteins.
  • An understanding of protein function, protein-ligand binding interactions, and enzyme mechanisms to inform assay/experiment design.
  • Preferred to have experience with protein expression, protein purification, and buffer screening.
  • Preferred to have a candidate that is comfortable with routine use of HPLC (affinity, size exclusion, reverse phase, hydrophobic interaction, ion exchange chromatography), SDS-PAGE, LC-MS/MS, Flow Cytometry and UV-VIS spectroscopy.
  • Hands-on experience with medium throughput screening is a plus.
  • Passionate about driving his or her projects from the bench to independently contribute to research directions and solve challenging issues.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working with highly technical projects and personnel.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver conclusive results.
  • Highly adaptable and responsive to delivering for challenging commitments.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Team oriented with strong work ethic.
