Responsible for creating and maintaining SafeAuto computer software by converting business and system requirements to code. The Claims, Corporate, and Legal team supports all SafeAuto claims and accounting systems, including Guidewire ClaimCenter.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Adheres to all SafeAuto policies and procedures, as outlined in the Associate’s Handbook. Receives advice on these guidelines during all stages of project development.
· Converts business and systems requirements into computer code.
· Compiles code into appropriate executables and corrects errors detected in compile process.
Performs testing to ensure conformance to requirements
Breaks down tasks into manageable units and provides estimates to complete
· Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with Safe Auto software applications. Provides second tier support.
Consults with Business Analysts, Project Management, and Quality Assurance to ensure successful delivery of solutions.
Works with Senior Programmer Analysts and Architects in the design and preparation of system documentation.
Designs, creates, and updates underlying database schemas.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelors Degree from 4 year institution, with emphasis in Information Technology or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS, or similar discipline.
Experience with web-based or client/server development languages, including GOSU, C#, Visual Basic, Java, or Delphi.
Excellent organization skills, with proven analytical, planning, problem solving and decision making skills.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write concise and intelligible code documentation and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and co-workers.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Advanced knowledge of application development theory and practice, including Software Development methodologies, Object Oriented Programming and component based design. Understands the role of testing and documentation in the development process. Displays proficiency in one or more programming languages utilized by Safe Auto. Understands moderately complex relational database concepts and platforms, and displays well developed SQL language skills (T-SQL preferred). Familiar with general networking, internet, security and communications structures and protocols. Fundamental awareness of performance considerations for web and non-web technologies, and able to contribute to design efforts. Able to effectively utilize internet, spreadsheet, word processing and related software applications.
