Job Summary and Mission
Starbucks is seeking a highly skilled and ambitious professional to join the Manufacturing Accounting team. You will contribute to Starbucks success by ensuring the accurate and timely completion of moderately complex accounting functions requiring full professional competency. Prepares financial reports and analyses to support decision-making for the external manufacturing team. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.


Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
  • Assists in maintaining various manufacturing accounting systems and processes including raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods inventory.
  • Contributes ideas and innovations to improve upon existing systems, work processes and procedures affecting month-end financial close, account analysis preparation, quarterly financial forecasts and financial reporting. Informs management of progress and roadblocks; identifies actions required.
  • Prepares and distributes financial reports; interprets account information and reports for managers and customers. Performs cost trend and variance analysis. Researches and responds to questions from customers. Effectively produces ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support the business.
  • Participates in other projects and assignments as needed to support the goals of the department. May attend meetings as department representative.
  • Sets up and maintains accounting and fiscal control records. Creates and prepares journal entries that are accurate and compliant with company policies and applicable accounting regulations. Produces financial statements and other reports and reviews for accuracy. Creates correcting or adjusting entries as appropriate. Creates and maintains documentation on processes and procedures related to accounting processes.
  • Provides support to cross-functional teams. Conducts analyses as needed to support project objectives.
  • Recommends financial process improvements and supports implementation of them.

Summary of Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience:
    • Financial analysis and general accounting at a professional level, including journal entries, account reconciliation and reporting
    • Analytical and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or other ERP) preferred
    • Cost accounting, process accounting or manufacturing accounting experience preferred
      Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to prioritize and document work performed
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment, while exhibiting exceptional attention to detail and continuously driving process improvements
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
