Pesticide Laboratory Manager (Lead Chemist)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
The Pesticide laboratory is located in Tifton, Georgia and is a part of the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Laboratory Division. The Pesticide laboratory is responsible for the testing of pesticide residues in food, pesticide formulations, pesticide complaint samples, and other pesticide samples for the State of Georgia.
Under general laboratory supervision, performs the following duties:
Collects and prepares laboratory samples or specimens;
Assists with development and participates in quality assurance;
Performs instrument and laboratory maintenance;
Performs routine and non-routine analysis;
Performs laboratory administrative duties;
Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in a hard science from an accredited college or university AND Five years of supervisory experience in a laboratory setting OR Bachelor's degree in any related discipline from an accredited college or university AND Seven years of related experience, five years of which must be in leadership or administrative roles OR Two years of experience required at the lower level Mgr., Health Laboratory (LSM010) or position equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants, who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas:
A Masters, PHD, or other advance degree in agricultural, physical, or natural science from an accredited college or university;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications:
