Construction Estimator Job Description:

The position requires 3 to 5 years of experience in construction and a bachelor’s degree in construction management or related engineering field. On site field management and engineering is preferred. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in the following areas:

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of all facets of multi-family construction to include but not limited to: site work & retaining walls, concrete, reinforcing steel, wood framing, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection & suppression systems, insulation, drywall, and interior finishes.
  • Garden Style and mid-rise multi-family construction experience required.
  • Must have ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications from architects and engineers.
  • Ability to maintain focus while working in a high level, quickly paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively organize, plan, and manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results.
  • Expect travel of 5-10% to attend pre-bid meetings, Owner meetings, and Pre-construction site visits.
  • Fully experienced and competent in basic computer skills as well as all Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Excel, and Project. Also efficiency in Adobe and Blue Beam a plus.
  • Knowledgeable of multi-state labor and material price structures.

Will be Responsible to

  • Take responsibility for pre-construction aspects of the project to include: Estimating, scheduling, quality control, design review and coordination, and cost proposal preparation. Also would set up project progress reports, progress billing, and preliminary project schedule to be implemented for the project.
  • Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, customers, vendors, subcontractors, and the In-house Construction management teams.
  • Help facilitate process between Owner and design team and incorporate direction into estimates. Participate in Owner meetings for review and direction.
  • Responsible for subcontractor interaction and collection of labor, material proposals. Includes performance of subcontractor qualification process. Draft and collect RFPs for all work to be performed.
  • Ensure that the estimates are accurate and complete with all variables and intricacies of the project being taken into consideration.
  • Oversee buyout process and draft subcontract scopes and pricing in preparation for contract agreements.
  • Develop and maintain subcontractor databases.
  • Performance and completion of quantity take-offs.
  • Participate in material and equipment purchasing for project as required.
  • Prepare of documentation to handoff to onsite construction teams to ensure accuracy in scope, budgets, and execution. Assist the onsite construction team during the beginning phases of the project to ensure success.

Salary: $90,000.00 /year
