Overview - External:

Responsibilities - External:

Directs and supervises the preparation and filing of premium tax, sales & use tax, VAT and GST tax returns.  Manages the identification, due diligence and processing of Unclaimed Property for all U.S. companies.  Oversees the processing of annual information returns (Form 1099) to recipients and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations.  Defends company in all aspects of audits in any of these areas.  Actively seeks to acquire tax credits to reduce the company's tax burden. Ensures financial statements properly reflect company’s position for all non-income tax areas.

Manages the Company’s Charitable Foundation and matching gift program.  Communicates with company executives related to Foundation matters and prepares the annual financial reporting package for the Board.

Qualifications - External:

Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent tax qualifications

7-10 years relevant experience in general accounting and tax accounting

Insurance industry specific experience in non-income taxes

Prior supervisory or team leadership experience required.

Excellent communication skills required.  Must be able to influence others to drive cooperation and change.  

The ability to translate technical requirements into simplified and relevant language. 

Analytical thinking and root cause analysis

Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

Ability to direct self and motivate others in a deadline driven environment
