Job Description

This position is responsible for providing architecture support, software administration, and configuration management for enterprise geospatial tools and applications in support of agency specific and enterprise applications.  Activities include monitoring of key business continuity indicators, impact analysis for infrastructure changes, configuration and support of geospatial software and tools, performance monitoring, and geospatial application and service deployment.  This position is responsible for designing, creating, testing, and implementing map services in support of agency and enterprise wide applications and services.  This individual will work in coordination with Data Architects and the Database Administrator to create, test, and integrate agency specific and statewide data into the Enterprise Spatial Data Warehouse. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS desktop and associated extensions
  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Server and associated extensions
  • Ability to create and validate map services using ArcGIS
  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Open Data portal administration
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS Online
  • Knowledge of Python scripting
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing Microsoft SQL Server
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services
  • Knowledge of software configuration management
  • Knowledge of system performance monitoring
  • Knowledge of geography, map interpretation, Geographic Information Systems
  • Knowledge of data management principles and best practices
  • Ability to design and implement quality control for data processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems
  • Ability to document processes and create technical documents
  • Ability to gather and analyze facts define problems, and devise solutions
  • Ability to understand and follow policies, standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Ability to maintain detailed portfolios and to generate reports



Required Education and Experience

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11/12
Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

Alternate Education and Experience

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 - 12
Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.


Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

Additional Requirements and Information

Certain positions may require certification in specific information technology programs.
