Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

This underwriter will be responsible for completing customer due diligence in accordance to corporate policy, conducting research, financial modeling and analysis and managing documentation for commercial transactions for the scheduled pay plan business (formerly GE Capital).


  • Manage existing commercial accounts and review new origination requests by performing rigorous analysis of transactions, and resolving problem accounts in partnership with deal teams.
  • Spreading financial/credit information
  • Preparing risk assessments and presenting to senior management with a clear and consistent approach to mitigate risks
  • Interfacing with customers to obtain needed information, resolving credit related issues, and minimizing potential losses
  • Monitoring existing accounts (along with the account team) to ensure ongoing compliance with loan agreements
  • Negotiating terms and conditons for transactions, working with deal teams to ensure appropriate documentation is in place
  • Other projects and assignments as requested including, but not limited to, portfolio analysis to ensure compliance and portfolio reporting

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of financial analysis experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • Minimum 2 year Commercial Underwriting experience, which includes cash flow analysis, collateral and financial analysis
  • Analytical skills: ability to analyze unstructured/complex problems using quantitative analysis
  • Communication skills: ability to write and speak in a concise and cogent fashion. Ability to make and deliver presentations to executives and external clients
  • Cross-functional teamwork: ability to pull together teams comprised of individuals from multiple functional backgrounds and drive results
