    Summary

    About the Position: Pueblo is located in southern Colorado along the southern edge of the state's major growth corridor. Pueblo is known for its historic transportation junction. The city lies 120 miles south of Denver at the crossroads of two major highways, I-25 and US Hwy 50, Pueblo Chemical Depot is east of Pueblo City.
    Notes: Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment.

    Responsibilities

    • Perform Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) registrar in order to enroll personnel into the system for the vetting and printing of visitor passes
    • Provide physical security to protect the personnel and value items within the depot from all potential dangers.
    • Prepare written reports to document all incidents as they occur.
    • Perform security guard duties to prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage and espionage in accordance with the appropriate regulations.
    • Provide oral communication to clearly identify, report, transmit or dispatch critical information to the security guard team in order to respond to emergency situations.

    Specialized Experience Requirement To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis.

    Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).

    Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
