Sourcing Manager

What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s Strategic Sourcing organization is seeking a dynamic professional with category expertise in the collections of delinquent bills who is interested in joining our team. The Sourcing Manager will play a lead role in supporting Verizon’s cost savings and revenue generation business goals through the sourcing process for the engagement of suppliers in the Collections category, all while driving cost savings that improve profit margins.

Verizon is seeking a professional with strong experience in sourcing, particularly: commercial modelling of agreements; category strategy development; deep market intelligence and data analysis; financial analysis including total cost of ownership; ability to work and communicate effectively with both operational and senior executives; demonstrated abilities influencing outcomes; end-to-end sourcing process execution; lead contract negotiations; deal governance and supplier relationship management; all in support of the outsourcing services related to contact centers. A key aspect of the sourcing role is building collaborative relationships with internal business partners, as well as strategic relationships with suppliers. The Sourcing Manager will actively support multiple time-sensitive requests, work independently and effectively interface with all levels of executives in the company, while efficiently ensuring the Sourcing process is completed in a manner that is consistent with Verizon policies and goals. A successful candidate will be required to have the knowledge, skills and experience for the development and execution of strategic levers existing across the enterprise to achieve the best total value for Verizon. This would include responsibility for continual monitoring of the supplier base, market trends and internal business roadmaps that would impact the sourcing strategy.

With respect to the supplier selection and negotiation process, the Sourcing Manager will be responsible for understanding the capabilities of the supplier base, RFx development and execution, proposal evaluation against business requirements and drafting and negotiating of contract scope, terms and conditions.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Partner with internal business partners to participate in contract negotiations with incumbent and potential new suppliers.
• Stays current with industry trends for their category and becomes a Trusted Advisor to our business partner.
• Works with Cross Functional Teams (CFTs) in determining the business and technical requirements and assists in drafting language to translate them into requirements for related documents (i.e. Statements of Work (SOW) and/or Request for Proposals (RFPs) for distribution to Verizon’s Contract Managers and/or Suppliers.
• Participate in contract negotiations regarding business and pricing terms with suppliers.
• Conducts analysis of supplier proposals and present evaluation of responses to cross functional teams for consideration and selection.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Project management experience.
• Experience with competitive bids (RFx), as well as direct negotiations, inclusive of outside collection agencies (OCA).
• Experience with PowerPoint and Pivot Tables within Excel.
• Knowledge of Strategic Sourcing processes, policies and procedures.
• Experience in contract negotiations to include business, price, licensing models and related technical terms, inclusive of outsourcing deals.
• Experience in drafting contract documents required for the establishment of business content elements, e.g. SOWs, LOAs.
• Willingness to travel.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting or related discipline
• Project management experience in a complex multi-project and multi-geography environment.
• Banking or Treasury Management experience.
• Experience in Strategic Sourcing and/or Contract Management.
• Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or related experience.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) from the Institute of Supply Chain Management (ISM).
• Experience with Microsoft Suite applications (including PowerPoint, Excel and Word). Experience with Pivot Tables within Excel.
• Strong issue resolution, negotiation, and project management skills.
