Business Operations Coordinator

Reporting to the Business Manager for the Division of Human Resources, this position will provide assistance with business operations for the division. This position requires thorough knowledge of university policies, procedures, and operations, and an understanding of the role of Human Resources at the university. The Business Operations Coordinator will exercise initiative and independent judgement while using discretion with information.

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in administrative planning and coordination in a professional environment.
  • Previous experience with fiscal coordination and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating clearly, effectively, and diplomatically with diverse constituencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple competing demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent judgment when working with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer applications: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access; proficiency with spreadsheets and database applications.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, analytical, writing and editing skills, including the ability to draft presentations, reports, correspondence, etc.
  • Ability to initiate tasks and work independently to task completion with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Virginia Tech Principles of Community.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of university and state fiscal policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of university organizations, colleges, academic departments, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience with accounts receivable responsibilities.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with Banner, HokieMart, and other university systems.
  • Experience in event and meeting coordination.
