Summary Description: Enforces company-wide knowledge management standards. Partners with the business to research, produce, and edit business artifacts, including written documentation and diagrams. Leads discussions with subject matter experts to obtain information and context for business documents. Analyzes business protocol and user needs to develop documentation for implementation of business changes, strategies and improvements. Manages existing artifacts and recommends revisions to scope, format, and content suitable for the intended audience. Develop and articulate business documentation strategy to reduce overlaps and information gaps. Organizes documentation and completes writing assignments, adhering to standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. May assist with elicitation and documentation of requirements and test scenarios.

  • Applies business acumen and overall understanding of business procedures and strategies supported by enterprise systems to review, write, and edit business materials that govern and support the administration and use of enterprise systems.
  • Uses Whataburger content management systems to store and archive documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with industry standards and best practices of style and format; excellent usage of the English language; and overall structure and organization of material to create professional documentation.
  • Analyzes and identifies documentation opportunities and gaps across enterprise systems.
  • Provides insight into procedures in relation to business architecture and processes to streamline change management.
  • Produces visual aids, including procedure diagrams and flow charts, to enhance documentation
  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2 to 3 years related experience, preferably in technical writing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with management, vendors, and co-workers
  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Proficiency in image-capture software
  • Familiar with Microsoft SharePoint or similar content management systems
  • Understanding of style guides for business documents
  • Intermediate professional or theoretical knowledge and fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization in the execution of assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Basic understanding of budgetary concepts and procedures
  • Intermediate understanding of departmental structure and policies with basic understanding of the cross-functional structure and policies of Whataburger Restaurants, LLC
  • Basic ability to delegate tasks and get work done through others
  • Ability to prepare and present information to guests, more senior associates, vendors and management with sufficient notice and preparation

  • Exempt Family Members are expected to work the necessary time to satisfactorily fulfill job responsibilities
  • Must be able to report to work timely and as required by operational/business needs
  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule with a minimum of 40 hours per work week
  • Must be able to travel occasionally
