About the Team

The Merchandising team is responsible for developing business strategies and seasonal assortment plans to maximize the development of the brand, sales and profits for a department or assigned area. We identify opportunities and recommend new product or concepts for the department. We coordinate information across functions working closely with Design, Inventory Management, Ecommerce, Sourcing, Production, Creative Services, Packaging and Visual to ensure the process is followed and timelines are met. You will be part of the Pottery Barn Kids Textiles team, focusing on Top of Bed departments- sheeting, quilts, & coordinated bedding.

About the Role

We are looking to fill the Textiles Assistant Buyer role in the Pottery Barn Kids brand. In this role, you will report to the Buyer and oversee a range of bedding products from sheeting to pillow inserts. We are looking for someone who is excited to jump in and learn about the business, and is equally as excited about the analytical part as they are about the creative part. The role is extremely collaborative - you will work with almost every role in the brand. We are in search of someone who can jump from one task to another quickly and efficiently, and someone who is excited about working with a fun and energetic group!

  • Identify and recommend new products or business opportunities
  • Analyze market trends and provide observations to help to determine assortment decisions
  • Assist the Buyer with developing the seasonal assortment plans to define product requirements for Design
  • Collaborate with our Design and Sourcing teams to keep all developments on track and communicate changes throughout the season
  • Work closely with our Inventory Management team to determine seasonal buys and overall investments for every collection
  • Take part in the catalog pagination process, determining how our product fits in and enhances the overall vision for the season
  • Oversee the process of requesting and tracking photo samples and coordinating with the Creative team to ensure our photo shoots run smoothly
  • Read and analyze sales to determine markdown, promo, and assortment decisions
  • Be responsible for approving packaging, catalog proofs and online copy for each season (pricing, naming, copy)
  • May be responsible to manage and oversee small department or area

We're excited about you because...

  • You have a Bachelor's degree
  • You have relevant experience working in a collaborative retail buying office (or related experience)
  • You have experience in applications such as MS Windows and MS Office including Excel
  • You are enthusiastic about the idea of being in merchandising and working with an awesome team!

Technical Competencies required:

  • Firm understanding of Microsoft Office Suite applications- Outlook, Excel, Word, & Power Point
  • General Retail Math
