As a Lifeguard at YMCA, you will be responsible for the safety and well-being of participants in and around the pool and whirlpool. You will also be the friendly face of the organization and welcome members by creating an inclusive atmosphere and be rescue ready to respond in any situation.

Enforce safety procedures and rules
Be attentive in scanning the pool
Keep pool area neat and free of clutter
Know and follow the Emergency Action Plan
Actively participate in required staff training's and meeting's
Must be at least 15 year's old
Pass ongoing evaluation of physical demands of the position (must be able to lift 50 pounds)
Must be able to swim 300 yards (using front crawl and breast stroke)
Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes, demonstrate rescue skills and retrieve the brick from the bottom of the deep pool
Have a Red Cross CPR Certification for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Class
Have a current YMCA Lifeguarding Certification, Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification or Boy Scouts of America Lifeguarding Certification
