YMCA Lifeguard Job Description & Responsibilities

A lifeguard is responsible for ensuring every swimmer' safety and well being in swimming environments such as public pools and beaches. To be a YMCA lifeguard, first and foremost, you must be a good swimmer and have high sense of responsibility. You should also be brave, alert and conscientious.   • Be Responsible for the guarding and safety of members and program participants within all aquatic facilities.
  • Be responsible for the pool until relieved by another guard.

YMCA Lifeguard Qualifications and Skills

  • The minimum age to work as a YMCA lifeguard is 16.
  • You are able to swim at least 500 yards.
  • A recognized Lifeguard certification CPR for Professional Rescuer (including AED) of YMCA, Red Cross, or others.
  • Administration on Oxygen.
  • Standard First Aid.
  • Possess all YMCA of Silicon Valley mandatory trainings within 90 days of hire:Completion of skills test, including 2 minutes of treading water with hands ou
